1940's jacket with circular skirt

I fell in love with this picture when I saw it. It was a great project to work on in my pattern making class. I tried to make the jacket just like the picture, but I had problems making the cuffs so in the end I did not add cuffs to my quarter sleeves. The circular skirt was quite easy to draft and sew. I bought the fabric and buttons at Michael Levine Inc. located in L.A.'s fashion district.

Summer dress

I know summer is almost over but since I live in California I can still wear summer dresses during the winter. I bought the fabric at Jo-Ann's and made the pattern. I got the idea for the dress from one of my friends.

1960's gown

I just finished making an evening gown inspired by the 1960s Ives Saint Laurent Evening gown pattern. When I began to draft my pattern I decided not to make the armholes as deep. I also made my dress shorter. Drafting the pattern was easy, sewing it together was hard for me. I had a hard time sewing on the collard and the hem. I had difficulties because it's my first time sewing with sheer fabric. Overall, I think it turned out quite well.

The shirt dress

The inspiration
Here is my shirt dress I have been working on. I drafted the pattern and bought the material at Joann's. I added pockets to give my hands a place to rest.

My inspiration for the jacket

The back has a peplum

I've always wanted to have a nice suit in my closet, BUT the problem which I've always had was finding one THAT fit me just right.  Therefore, I took action, found the above pictures, and used them to draft my own patterns!
